Remembering 9/11

The UTC campus community invites the public to join in a 9/11 Candlelight Vigil to remember those lost and to honor those who serve, on Sunday at 8 p.m.

Chuck Cantrell, UTC vice chancellor for University Relations, said, “The 9/11 attacks changed our world, and following the attacks, Americans put aside our differences and stood together. I can’t think of a more appropriate place than a college campus to acknowledge these events, to remember those who lost their lives, and to honor the ideas of freedom and unity. Our students come from different backgrounds and different philosophies, but they can come together as a campus and a community.”

Participants will gather in the lobby of Founders Hall and then process to the Quadrangle. Chattanooga alumnus and U.S. Army General (Retired) B.B. Bell will make brief remarks. The UTC ROTC Mocs Battalion will lead the ceremonies, featuring a flag ceremony and a 21-gun salute.

Everyone is invited to celebrate the American spirit.
